If you're a connoisseur of the Golf lineup of Volkswagen hatchbacks and wagons, you're probably excited at the prospects evinced by the 2017 NYIAS. A refresh is coming in the fall of 2017, in the form of brand-new offerings showcasing not only the aesthetic panache of upgraded design lines, new bumpers and a new grille, but a host of updates to the vehicle family's convenience and driver-assist tech, among others.

And Volkswagen plans to run the gamut well beyond sleek design elements like standardized full-LED taillights and Daytime Running Lights and optional full-LED headlights to cut through the thick of it. Much of what's under the new 2018 Golf series' updated wheel designs, body colors, new trim panels and comfortable interior materials is set to change for the better.

We can look forward, among other stylings, to improved technological interoperability. Previous 5-inch displays upgrade to 6.5 inches standard, and in Golf SE and SEL trims, sprawling 8-inch touchscreens present. And that's in addition to a new Volkswagen Digital Cockpit. This curio's set to enable customization of vehicle info showcased on Golf's dash, and lovers of Golf R can look forward to it coming standard in their iteration.

Safety was paramount for the automaker's new line, too, as Forward Collision Warning, a Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert, and Autonomous Emergency Braking/Front Assist are set to appear on many SE and higher trims. That means new vistas of travel are opening up for urban go-getters, as Front Assist will, moving forward, incorporate Pedestrian Monitoring.

Volkswagen's also making available on several models more than a few intelligent perks to imbue the drive-time commute with peace of mind, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning (Lane Assist), and High Beam Control (Light Assist). Plus, parking becomes a snap thanks to ParkPilot technology and a Parking Steering Assistant (Park Assist).

And there's going to be more where these exciting developments came from. Just imagine trekking around the Fort Myers, Naples, Cape Coral, and Lehigh Acres area in one of these babies. We at Volkswagen of Fort Myers surely can. And we already do, thanks to the excellent assortment of Golf, Golf Alltrack, Golf GTI, Golf R, and Golf SportWagen models we have in stock. Why not await the arrival of 2018's new iterations with a test drive here at our 14060 S. Tamiami Trl showroom? We'll be happy to put you behind the wheel!
